Types of Outside
Shots
Power Shots Player makes space, usually outside 5m, and shoots the ball hard with power and placement. Lobs Player is 3-6m on one side of the goals. The goalie is faked to come to the near side, leaving space on the far side. The ball is thrown high, dropping past and into the top far corner . Placement and timing are the keys. Power Shooting Drills Chase Drill The shooter is @ 10m, the chaser is @ 1/2 pool. The shooter may ONLY
walk sidestroke, no swimming with the ball, and moves as close as possible,
shooting before getting tackled. The defender comes from different spots
to make it interesting. Players learn to move with the ball available,
and not to swim with it. Moving 2m and being comfortable when shooting
passing is better than going 4m and being under great pressure when delivering
the ball. (Source Jim Floerchinger)
