When to Shoot
There are many physical attributes involved in shooting. There is also a great variety of shots that can be taken. They are the easy bits. Knowing when to shoot, and importantly, when not to shoot are vital components to a team strategy.

Shoot when you are in a good position. If you aren't – don’t.

Shoot when the goalie is out of position

Shoot when you are supposed to at the end of a set play or a powerplay

Shoot when you have manouvred the guard into a bad position

Know your shooting strength and use it

Know the percentages and make the shot difficult for the goalie. Low percentage shots just give the ball to your opponents

Know the game position and take the appropriate shooting decision

Watch the clocks and take the appropriate shooting decision

Watch the position of your team mates. Don’t shoot if missing will put them in a bad position. Unless you score !!

Watch the orientation of the defenders – are they sweating on a shot for a fastbreak?
